I'm having issues with my ribbon still fraying after I heat seal with a lighter. I wanted to start using a wood burner so I can cut and seal at the same time, but am afraid! I wanted to know who all uses them and what do you use under it to cut it on, ie cutting mat, something that you can measure and cut at the same time but not cut into your table.

TIA, Kristie

I use a woodburner. I have the glass from a dollar store picture frame that I use as my cutting board. It is cheap and works like a charm.

I do the same thing. It does take practice but once you get the hang of it you will never go back

Thanks ladies! I finally organized my ribbon on my dining room table and was able to put my rotary mat on there with a piece of glass to cut. It will def take some practicing!

I love my wood burner, I wouldn't use anything else now that I have tried it. You can also get a small glass cutting board at Wal-Mart to use for cutting and to keep it sitting on. I think they are under $4.00, and very thick, their specially made to handle heat.

I love the wood burning tool! I use a glass cutting mat that I had gotten from Michaels.

I love my woodburner. I still have problems with it, but nonethe less I love it. Nice and quick, esp if you need to heal seal ribbons for clips. Just zap it next to the shaft and it is done. I have not mastered the cutting and sealing yet. Need to find a good metal ruler.

I finally have a piece of glass. I have it sitting over my measuring/cutting board. I love it! Measure my ribbon and cut. So easy.

I have not heard anything good about the thread burner. Do you have any hobby shops or hardware stores? That is where you would find a woodburning tool.

I use a 12" ceramic tile with felt under it (so it don't scratch the table) to lay my wood burner and glue gun on.
