So I run all my credit card order I get from MySpace or my site through PayPal, but now I'm getting more into doing the larger shows.
The show I did about a month ago I know I could have sold A LOT more if I would have accepted credit cards. I did end up accepting checks at that show and got lucky with none coming back to bite me in the butt... yet. But I hated turning people away just because they didn't have cash knowing they would have bought!!
I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem?
My option at this moment is running all the credit cards through my husband's work (he is pretty well partners in this business and runs it himself most of the time). His boss is fine with it, I know he's good for writing me a check after my shows are over, minus the credit card transaction fees and all that of course. I just don't want to
1.) Go through setting up a merchant account and worrying about taxes and all that at this time
2.) Worrying about having to having a minimum amount run through each month and dealing with fees
3.) Always paying extra for a booth to have electric run
4.) How would you set up a phone line at a booth anyway?!? Cost of a wireless credit card machine is outrageous too!
So I found some very inexpensive credit card imprint machines on ebay. I figured I run the risk of giving people their merchandise before running their cards and there is a possibility that their card could get denied, but I'd hope that wouldn't happen. But then I could return to my husbands business and run each card there.
I don't know, what are you guy's thoughts?
