I love TRR & RABOM - downfall to RABOM is they put their ribbon on spools and I prefer the ribbon just rolled onto itself. Loris posted a link to this blog and I was searching around (cute blog!) and came across this ribbon spool storage idea and thought it worth sharing.

I used to store my ribbon that way when I first started out. It was a pita for me though when the spool got empty (and of course it was always the one in the very middle) because you have to remove the others to get to it and then put them back on. I had very little patience, though, so it probably isn't a pain for most.

Hadn't thought about having to remove the empty spools - that would drive me nuts too.

Does anyone have a better method for storage? I am currently using 12 inch dowel rods in a Tupperware type container. (similar to the idea posted, but not attached to the wall) But it is a huge hassle when the ribbon in the middle runs out. I'm trying to build up some inventory and at least on spool of ribbon is used up every night! My ribbon is becoming a complete mess! :)

What about the plastic tiered storage drawers. For some of my ribbon I use one of those with little caster wheels on it. There are about 6 drawers on mine that are just deep enough to accommodate the average size spool when I stand them up vertically (not flat on their widest surface). I stand them up so that I can easily see the color/print and can position them in rows. Then just fill each drawer up.

My unorganized mess of ribbon was driving me nuts. I had thought of dowels, but thought of the empty roll in the middle thing. Plus I buy most of my ribbon from TRR. So I have one of those plastic draw things on wheels and I bought some of those 'drawer' organizers (3 for a buck @ Walmart) You know the ones for pens & pencils!?!? The rolled up ribbon from TRR fit in there perfectly and you can stack one on top of the other if need be. I also got some of the trays that are like 5"x6" that I use for the hardware, finished bows, and ribbon on spools. So far it is keeping everything pretty organized!

Mine are in 1 of those plastic storage bins and now they are all running together - unravelling. When I need a color I have to rummage through it all, what a mess.

There is a scrapbooking site called Crop Chocolate ( Crop Chocolate (https://www.cropchocolate.com) ) that has one a day deals. It has all kinds of things, and one thing they occasionally have is a large wall unit that has dowels for ribbon spools, little jars for clips/buttons, and small drawers for other things. It is usually on a very huge discount from what you can get at the store. If you haven't looked at it, you may want to! However, one word of wisdom, if they have something really good, it sells out REALLY quick! So you have to be fast in the morning!

I hope this helps some people with their organization!
