I had a customer order custom New Year's bows. All she wanted was white, silver, and some white boa in there. She is having a baby at the end of the month so she wanted a big one for the newborn and two medium bows for her toddler to wear in pig tails. Here's what I ended up making and she was very happy with them!
Sorry the lighting is horrible!! I am acutally wanting for my new photo light box dealy to arrive in the mail any day now!

Very cute! I like the metallic ribbon. I wonder what kind of outfits they will be wearing the bows with.

You know I'm not sure what kind of outfits, but she said she'd send me pictures.

She's been a long time customer, so long story short I approached her about having pics taken of her new baby in some of my stuff (all the people I know are having BOYS lately). She was all for it and I know I can trust her, she's been great to me in the past. So anyway, she said since I was mailing stuff to her anyway could I make up these bows - which she did pay for, but I sent the other items free including: infant hat, solid bow and flower to interchange on the hat, and a headband wrap around tutu. She's scheduled to have her C-Section the 28th (if not sooner) so I just can't wait to see the pictures she has taken!! I'll try to post those pictures when the time comes too.

Those are pretty, I love the metallic ribbon and marabou. I'm wondering what they'll be wearing too.

Those bows are precious! White looks so good on little ones. When you make infant (say one month old) how long do you make it?? I'm thinking 15-16 inches before I sew it together?!??!

I'm not sure what you are refering to, but I do have a length chart for my ribbon that came with my TNT templates.

Sorry I wasnt more clear. I am using stretchy lacy to make infant headbands. I asked my daughter to measure the one month old's head ... but is there a rule of thumb!?!? Obviously make it loose enough that it wont squish the poor baby's head :o We are going to see her for the first time next week.....can't wait!!

Oh, gotcha! I actually had a lace headband I bought from Babies R Us that I went by. Really not sure what the rule of thumb is. I just bought some FOE and my daughter is 3 and her head measured 19 in. (not that helps much!). The chart I went by for the FOE says 13-14in. for newborns, which would probably work for stretch lace too. HTH!

Thanks ... when you mentioned a template, I thought maybe there was a size to go by. I made a headband for my other granddaughter and winged it .. 15 in was perfect. I havent seen this new one yet, so it is hard to judge. I'm sure she will get back to me with a size. BTW, I checked out your website. You have a lot of adorable things on there. Little girls are so much fun!! Thank you!

I thought that maybe by the 14- 15 in. you meant how long I cut the ribbon. So that's why I said I use the TNT templates b/c they come with a chart on how long to cut the ribbon depending of the size bow and template you use. That's before I knew you were talking about headbands and not the bows. LoL!

I think your best bet is, like you said, waiting till you get the exact measurements. Can't go wrong that way!! And thanks for the nice comments about my site! It kind of needs some TLC after all these shows and my busy season, I've kind of neglected it. That'll have to wait till the first of the year though.

Love the metallic ribbon!! Gives it a "je ne sais quoi" air to the bows :)
