I am new to all of this , do you get more business at fairs? Website? Etsy? Is it worth setting up a website when I can use Etsy (or the Australian version MadeIt)

Thanks Barbara Jean in advance! You always answer my questions :girly: anyone else is free to answer too!!

I actually sell most of my bows locally through my website/facebook page. Etsy is so swamped with stuff its hard to sell bows on there, unless you have a customer base already.
In Australia it might be different though...I hope to visit Austrailia one day *fingers crossed*, my hubby's grandfather lives there so we get a free stay!!

I have not gotten to do a craft fair yet so I can't say how much comes from that. My website is new and I opened it up while I was still in Germany about to move so I don't have a great deal of traffic on there yet. While in Germany I got the bulk of my sales from Etsy. I have not updated Etsy since before the move, in fact I just now activated the listings that I de-activated when I moved... thanks for jarring my memory. I am not sure how much I am going to focus on Etsy while I try to pimp my website out. I am already starting to get a bit of business through word-of-mouth sales. That has always been my best source of business. I will just have to see where things take me over the next year. Sorry for the completely rambling post, lol.

I get most of my sales from locals. I have an Etsy page but I don't sell much. I also created a free websites for my customers to look at, no shopping cart. Hopefully someday I will get a website with a shopping cart. I never did a craft show either.

I give most of my bows away! Though I have mentioned on other threads that my sister in law takes some of my bows to her salon and has sold a few. Then she bought into a spot at a 'hospital fundraiser' craft fair right around Thanksgiving and sold about $200. of my bows! I'd like to build up my stock and try a fair or two this year and see what happens. If anything it will pay for my hobby!! I think if you have a spot at the right craft fair you could do well.

In order to get good sales on Etsy you have to be posting stuff everyday and who has time to do that. We do home shows which make a bit of money and the plus side to them is you dont have a fee to pay as you would at a craft show
