This may have been asked a hundred times and if so I apologize for repeating, but I have searched the forums and can't find the answer.

I have been asked to put some of my bows in a festival in a couple of months. I would like to be able to take credit cards but have no clue how to go about doing it. Do you use PayPal? Something else? Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Kel

I haven't done a show yet but I know a lot of ladies use propay to accept credit cards. That is the way I think I will be going.

I just signed up for propay and used it for the first time last weekend. I have a "knuckle buster" that I use at the shows, bring the slips home, and insert them into the computer (can find the cc imprinters on ebay). Bad thing is I did have one cc not go through.... people! Makes me mad.

I sign up with a promo group for the shows I do and they just gave us an offer I'm going to look into. Something about a wireless machine, there is a monthly fee for it, but basically all that propay offers with no monthly min., actually lower trans. fees, and % per trans. fees. What I like about it is cards will be denied or accepted right them and there.

Can't you "call" the card in to propay at the time? I was hoping to do that so I hope you can. How long did it take you to sign up for propay (is there like a verification period)?

BIG POOH on the person that gave you a bum card! SO uncool!

Yes you can call the cards in with propay. It really gets soooo busy at some points I just decided to take the chance. We used to use the card imprinter and my husband would take the slips to his work and we'd run them there and his boss would just write us a check when it would all cleared (we would tell those cc customers that the withdrawl from their account would be an auto shop - NOT my shop). We did this probably 3 times and this is the first time we've had a bad card. It was luckily only for $6.50, but hey - it's still stealing!!

Still going to look into the wireless cc machine... sounds like a heck of a deal. But you never know with those things. They all like to fee you to death.

Let us know more about this, please. Having a yes or no right on the spot would be fantastic for the show I'm thinking about doing. A lot of the customers will be tourists and I may not be able to track them down after the fact.

I think that the ability to take credit cards would give me a leg up at this particular festival.

Thanks for the posts. Very helpful.

I read in another forum about a merchant company or something like that where they give you the machine and the fees were like 4-7% and there was no min or anything... I will have to look again because I want the machine or I will call everyone...

Have any of you used this one:
Small business merchant accounts (http://www.cardpay.net/small-business-merchant-account.html)

They say there are no set up or application fees. There rates are:
RETAIL BUSINESS AT A RATE OF 1.69% + .18 PER TRANSACTION
MAIL/PHONE/INTERNET AT A RATE OF 2.23% + .25 PER TRANSACTION

Since I'm new to all of this, with very little research, is this a good price? They also will send you a free wireless machine with your account.

My offer is:
-Free Wireless machine
-Debit rate: 1.19% + .19 authorization fee
-Visa/Mastercard/Discover: 1.69% + .19 authorization fee
$5.00 statement
Monthly Min. fee waved
Application, Set up fee waved - no annual fees
No cancellation fee
Wireless access fee - $15.00

Now - what's not listed there I'm not sure. I'm sure they'll get me somewhere.

Someone asked above to share how to get this offer, however I can not do that. It's only for people within this promo group and we have to mention we know the guy who runs it. If anyone does bigger shows, ask the person in charge if they know of any offers like this or can point you in the right direction.

Now, for those that do something about this kind of stuff - does this look like a good deal above???

I don't have an iphone either, but that sounds awesome. I wonder if there are monthly fees or if it's included in the data package price.

Something that is worth checking in to. I also heard that maybe the Blackberry or dRoid could do this as well. I really want to have the capability to accept cards when I do this huge festival.
