I must stay calm... and not mention names... but I'm not happy.

I do these big show and pay good money to do so. Another "boutique" is driving me bonkers. They pretty well always get the "prime locations." The guy running the shows was really trying to get me to sign up for an uncoming show and I said sure - if you give me THAT spot.
Long story short, this boutique has something going on with the mall and can come whatever weekend they want and that is THEIR spot. HOW IS THIS? You know, I don't know about the rest of you, but would you sign up for a show when you are being ranked? Obviously this makes me feel inferior to this other boutique, which I should not, and I shouldn't be made to feel like that either.
A LOT of times I have people come up to me and say they wished they'd have seen my stand first b/c they would have come and bought from me. People say my items are better quality and priced much more reasonably. I love to hear these comments, and this is the reason that I keep doing what I do and going to these shows, and the reason I should NOT feel inferior.
I'm still trying to figure out if all this drama is worth the effort.

I'm sorry that you have been made to feel inferior. Your stuff is wonderful and like your customers say "more reasonably priced". It is NOT fair that this other boutique gets preferential treatment. They should hold a lottery of sorts and whoever "wins" gets THE spot (though I don't know if you can trust them to be honest about who actually won, lol). If it is making you unhappy and leads you to question your value... you may have to step away from this venue for a bit or at the very least ask the promoter/organizer some very direct questions.

Hugs. You soooooooooooooo do not deserve to be made to feel second best.

You are so very sweet! You've made me feel better about this situation. I may need to step back from this place for awhile. Bad thing is she is following me to my next show which is in a different venue... I'm sure she'll get special treatment there as well. I also agree that this lottery would not be held fairly.
If I didn't make so much profit doing shows with this guy, I'd really consider walking away right now. Even though I'm sure that's what this boutique wants. I'm strong though. She can be snotty and sit on the other side of the place, but I'm not going anywhere. :D

I say if you are up to it.... stay and fight. Go for the jugular and show her what you are made of. She may be a "big bad boutique" but I have my money on small and scrappy!

Do your thing, girl!!!

I did read your post in the other section, but having read the whole story - could you talk to the guy in charge about the situation? I mean, maybe let it drop that you're considering not continuing to do his shows because of incidents like this

I agree with Barbara Jean, don't leave, that's what she wants. You make beautiful things, and now that people have seen your work, they will come back and look for you and won't automatically buy from her because they see her first. I agree they should have some type of lottery for the spots. Good luck and hang in there.

I have talked with the guy, he knows I'm not the "sit back and take it type." I've brought up other issues with him before - same boutique different issues. Long story short - this boutique that specializes in the kufi hats (not naming names, but they have a brand name) wanted to have me remove my kufi hats because their hats have a "copyright." OH NO, wasn't gonna let that happen, I stood my ground and won that battle.

I kind of like being there when she is there b/c I know it gets on her nerves, lol! I have neon pink bags and I know everytime she sees someone with a pink bag walk by her stand she must think something not so nice to herself.

I think I will do this show. The mall is having a huge BBQ competition going on that weekend as well as a carnival on it's grounds. I'd hope that would draw people into the mall. I will keep everyone updated.

You are soooo sweet!! LoL! I haven't had to resort to that yet - and she actually came up to me and introduced herself a couple weeks back. I really think she knows I am competition, but that I also sell many different things then her. As far as I know, she hasn't slowed down my business - but I may have slowed down hers  She is nice, but maybe the saying that goes "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" kind of deal? :Angel_anim:
