I had my second craft show today in a small strip mall and happened to be placed right in front of children's hair cutting salon. To make a long story short, I ended up landing a wholesale account with the salon for clippies and stuff. I have no idea what the terms of wholesale are. They agree to a dollar amount minimum, right (?), and I, in turn give them a % discount? Now the real question....how much of a minimum do I ask that they order (they bought a little over a $100.00 of product today, so I'm assuming they're OK with that amount). But how much of discount do I give? I don't want to screw myself but don't want to turn them off, either. They did say they'll be doubling the price of whatever I charge them and this is in an upscale area. I live in western NY. Is there some kind a standard wholesale agreement?

TIA!

I'm sure it varies from region to region. I do a $200 min. and then each additional wholesale order is a min. $100. All my items have a different wholesale discount. Easy stuff like headbands I do like 50% off (I still get a profit from that price), harder stuff I only do 20% because a lot of time goes into that stuff.
But I just also wanted to say CONGRATS!!! That's really really great!!!!!!

well minimum depend of the item,I ask 200.00 for my cloths the first time and $150 the next one...I think $150.00 the first time and $100 next one.

Or maybe they you can do 70%-30% when the item sale 70% go to you and 30% for the store...

Thanks for your replies! Not sure what I'm going to do. Last night I was ready to give the whole thing up. I never really thought about wholesaling, so I didn't have a game plan. <sigh>

They may have something in mind already. See what they are willing to do. I'm sure between the two of you, you can come to some agreement.

I tried calling them several times but never got a call back. They were working with another wholesaler so maybe they used my korkers and stuff and asked her to make them, or maybe they just didn't like my stuff????

I am sorry things didn't work out for you with the wholesale.

Aw, thanks! I think I need to be more "pushy", too. Thinking about trying to wholesale my korkers that I make with 1/8" ribbon, just again, it's the pricing thing. DH keeps telling me to charge XX amount but I think it's too expensive. I know what my supplies cost, it's just what my time is worth.:confused1:

I seen somewhere where people would give like discount off what they charge retail for the wholesale price.
