Hello fellow Etsy Sellers. I have been on Etsy since Feburary and I really am having a very hard time standing out from the crowd. I have actually seriously considered closing my etsy shop. But I am really working hard at trying to be a SAHM while making bows and a little money. But I am really having a hard time finding the right balance. To me, Etsy seems so incredibly time consuming... I spend time making bows, then I spend hours trying to take "etsy worthy" photos, I am spending a ton of time researching how to do better on etsy, and then I only have 7 sales in 6 months. I have tried listing something every day... that doesn't help, I have tried the showcases where you pay for a spot of advertising... nothing. All of the while, I am also making stuff to sell at a consignment store in town (my stuff is going over very well there) and I also have displays at 2 salons in town but they do minimal business. I guess, I need to revamp my business stratagy! People seem to love my stuff but the market is so saturated online. And I can't spend most of my day online... I have 2 kids under 4 and they keep me busy! I guess what I am asking is this... is anyone else having trouble getting their etsy shop to stand out from the crowd? Am I the only one that seems to pour hours upon hours into the shop and barely any sales? How do you SAHM's manage your time between bow making, marketing, selling, and your kids, hubby, and house? I just feel like I'm struggling! Help!!!

I had a hard time selling bows on there too. There are just sooo many! If you're bows are top notch or next to free in cost it's like you are just one of the thousands on there. I quit listing bows on etsy. I mainly just put tutu's on there now have had much better luck with that.

I also do tutu's... I love making them but again... kinda time consuming. But they seem to sell very well. I have only listed one tutu on etsy because when ever I make one, someone through the consignment shop wants it... usually before it's done. Hopefully, the more I make, the quicker I can get them done.

I think etsy has more of everything on there. You might want to try zibbet.com It is free up to like 20 items listed i think and then it only like 9.00 a month for a premium account. Its worth checking out. And there are other sites that you can post on too! Good Luck!

I refuse to sell on etsy or ebay. By the time the fees are taken out from ebay, and paypal, Im losing money. Not to mention it seems that everyone just wants to visit those places to steal ideas. Sorry, but its my time and creativity that created that bow, I should get compensated for what I do, not someone else.

I have a etsy shop but the market is sooo saturated. I sell more to my family and freinds and of course the one gift expo I was in. I mostly keep the etsy sute up for my out of town family and freinds.

I have tried selling many different things through Etsy and the only thing that keeps my shop open is my digital images. I sell A LOT of those, but I would love to get those sales over to my actual website. I hate paying out so much between Etsy and PayPal fees. :( I tried Zibbet....hardly any sales.....so I don't know..I just stick with Etsy because I can always count on a few sales a day...even if it's only $1.99 a pop, it helps to put gas in the car or pick up dinner. :)

I never tried etsy but a friend of mine is on it. And she is having a hard time selling her items as well. They are wonderful items i think there is just so much to choose from. Good luck heading over now to check out your images.

I sold some stuff on etsy this month and filled my shop up. Then I got a bill for $35! Wow thats a lot of fees. I finished my website and that is only $10 a month and I can sell as much as I want. Not loving it.
