My friend would really like to make an outfit similiar to this for her daughters upcoming pageant. Of course me being the crafty one she asks me for tips on how to make it. Problem is I really don't sew. I can do basics and can follow simple patterns but..... She is actually going to attempt making it and said that she would like to just use one of my tutu's under the skirt. But I can't figure out what kind of skirt it would be. I think it looks like a twirls skirt with the creoline (sp?) and tulle under it. Any suggestions from anyone on how you would attempt to make it similiar to this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260357000773&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:US:1123

It looks like a regular twirl skirt with a pettiskirt underneath. If she makes a twirl skirt similar to this one http://houseonhillroad.typepad.com/photos/twirly_skirt/ and you make a full tutu, you will get roughly the same look.

That's what I thought. Thanks Barbara, I was just going to ask you straight out, but thought I would throw it out to everyone and see what kind of ideas I would get back.

That is a beautiful dress. Good luck. I was going to say the same thing about the pettiskirt. I have a pattern for one, but not sure I like my ruffler that well yet to even try.

I know what you mean. Me and rufflers are NOT friends!!!!!! I ruffle by hand either with elastic and zig zag stitches or with loose basting stitches.

That's a cute outfit. Yes I think it is a skirt over a crinoline.
