how much ribbon to use?

Ive been playing with it for a few weeks and havent quite got it down yet. How much ribbon would I use for a large bow, med bow and a small bow?

1.5" Ribbon

4" Boutique = 28" of ribbon
4" Pinwheel = 23" of ribbon
3" Pinwheel= 18" of ribbon

7/8" ribbon

3.5" Boutique = 22.5" of ribbon
3 to 3.5" pinwheel = 19.5" of ribbon
2 to 2.5" pinwheel = 14" of ribbon

5/8" Ribbon

2" half pinwheel (only do one loop on each side) = 7" of ribbon
2.5" Pinwheel = 14" of ribbon

2" bow 17" using 5/8 ribbon
2.5" bow 19" using 7/8
3" bow 24" using 7/8
4" bow 29" using 1.5"

I leave 1.5" tail on my bows

Another option

24 inch 1.5
30 inch 1.5
12 inches for 3/8 tiny bows.

April, did you come up with those or did you get them from somewhere? I never measure ... I fold my bows and cut from there so I don't waste ribbon. I'm so non-technical with my bows though and don't really use instructions.

I find that I waste less if I use a set length and then all of my bows are more uniform in size.

There are so many ways to make a bow, that's what I love about the craft! My bows are pretty uniform too and I probably use the same length each time, but I just don't measure. Sometimes I do adjust the size of certain bow designs for custom orders too, so not cutting first I can adjust while I am folding to get a better idea how I want them to look finished. I guess I just make them the same way I did when I was learning and it works for me.

I think I use about 12-14 inches of 3/8 for a boutique bow
