This is the tutorial I used to learn
http://www.girlythingsbows.com/pony_tail_streamers.html
I use 6 pieces of @ around 14" of 3/8" for my 5 year old and 19-20" of 5/8" or 7/8" for my 11 and 13 year old sisters.
ETA: The tutorial uses glue, I do not. I thread each piece on to a needle and the pull the needle through and wrap it around the bunch a couple times and tie it off. Sometimes I'll sew the bunch to the pony-o, but usually I just hot glue it.

do you stack your ribbons on top of each other on the needle or do you stagger them???

I stagger my ribbons and then hook them to the pony'o with a zip tie. You will have a big bump in the middle. Just take your woodburner and melt it down then put you center knot over it. Holds really great.

ok so I am a newbie & this is a dumb question: how do you "stagger" the ribbons on the needle? I am SUCH a visual person I'm having a hard time getting the idea into my head.....

Take a look at the link above, that is how you stagger them. It is just side by side basically.

Ok now I feel really stupid for not checking the link first :001_rolleyes: I see EXACTLY how to do it now. Guess I'm still not awake after a long restless night w/ a teething 11 mo. old!!

I line the ribbons up and run them right through my sewing machine. Then I fold it like I'm folding a bow and wrap it with floss. The ribbons fan out just right that way. HTH!

I have tried making the firecracker pony-os. Mine turn out flat. I thread them on a needle and then glue them on a pony-o. But when its all finished its flat! Is there a trick to make them stand up?

I've pinched it in the middle like when I am tying a bow too. I only used 7/8" ribbon and smaller tho.

I think this is what she means. Correct me if I am wrong, Evie.

Forgive me for what is probably a dumb-newbie question, but do you attach your ribbons to anything before putting them on the pony-o. You know, so the pretty part will always be on top?

I sew my streamer to the pony-o or you could glue it. They will not move.

I never thought about sewing them. My little girl loves those and has now "put in her order". She also wants some of the spikey bows too. Now, I've got to learn how to do those.
I have really enjoyed making the bows for her, especially the m2m ones. This is a lot of fun. Thanks!

I have yet to try streamers lol.
For the firecracker/spiky bows I make I fold in half length ways then in half width ways then place on my needle...does that make sense?
Cheers Rubes :)

I sew them too & it holds up so well! A lot of the time, I'll add a dot of glue to the pony o & then sew. It's so secure & really easy.
