I have been trying to get surrounding loops right for a few weeks and I think I might finally have it, but any constructive criticisms and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I also finally got the twisted boutique bow right BUT when I added the center, it DOESN'T look right now, any suggestions.:confused1:
The top bow WAS a twisted boutique, now, I don't think so.
TIA, Rebecca

I don't do surrounds, so can't help. But I was going to say that if that ribbon that you are using for your twisted boutique is the same as some ribbon I recently picked up at Walmart, it stinks for making twisted boutiques!!!

It is from Walmart!!!! :confused1: Maybe that's the problem. I did use a different ribbon this evening and it came out better. I just can't get those dang creases right when i fold. It looks perfect before I crease. After I crease, not so much. Anyone have any suggestions for creasing the twisted boutique bows?

I'm not the best bow maker by far, I have a lot to learn, but my creases are best when I sew them since I can pick my peaks and valley's that way.

Cute bow. I think your twisted boutique bow is upside down. Is that maybe what looks off to you?

Could be. I'll keep plugging away. Maybe one of these days I'll get it right. Thanks ladies.:)

I think it might be upside down too. To get the crease right, fold your bow like your would then thread the needle in the centre, in and out from the bottom to the top. Then gently pull the thread and it should crease the bow then wrap the thread a few times around the bow and sew at the back. Does that make sense?

that is what I was going to say too. the ribbon going <----> should be on the back.

Im still new with bows, but may I ask how you do your surrounding loops? Here is the link where I learned. Maybe you have already seen it......YouTube - Make A Surrounding Loop For Your Hair Bow by www.hair-hardware.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN4gda0MIzQ&feature=PlayList&p=7F5897673B40910F&index=2)
And I also think that knot in the center should be the last touch of making a bow. After you stack your bow, spikes and loops, secure them all together and the wrap the ribbon with a knot around the whole bow.
BUT, that is just my opinion, Im not a pro here, so please forgive me if I said something wrong.

It does look like your twisted bow is reversed, and on the bottom right loop it looks like your reversed the way your loop should go (did that make any sense?) Do you mind me asking how you size your ribbon to cut for your surrounds? They look at little big....I have learned that cutting about 1 inch more then I cut for the bow itself seems to work, and then the surround loops seem a little more perky......HTH
