flower bow (How to do question)

I found this

and to me it looks like a couple of layers of figure 8 layed in different directions and maybe they used needle and thread to keep them together.
I am I close to figuring this out?
I am going to get some ribbon ( maybe 3/8") to try this.

that for me was one of the easiest flowers to do. i looked at the instructions for a few minutes then went down to hubbys "get-a-way" and made one.
